Looking for a Brazilian real estate agent in Los Angeles? Chueire Estates has got you covered.

Buying a home isn’t easy.

Buying a home that reflects your heritage is an even bigger challenge. It’s important to have a realtor who knows and understands your cultural values on a personal level, so you can design a lifestyle in the USA that respects where you came from.

There are also key differences between the real estate market in Brazil and the real estate market in the USA, and you need someone on your team who can help you navigate those waters, translating and working with native English speakers. It’s easy to be taken advantage of when you’re a foreigner doing business in another country, but we won’t let that happen.

First, let’s look at how more and more Brazilians are moving to the USA (including, of course, the greater Los Angeles area). It’s more common than many people think, so it’s easier and easier to carve out a little bit of home if you’re thinking about making the move.

Brazilians and Brazilian-Americans are Moving to Los Angeles

According to US Census data, in 1990, there were only 65,000 Brazilian-Americans. By 2000, that number had grown to 181,000, a more than 170% increase. By 2010, that number grew to 340,000, nearly a 200% increase.

Today, the number of Brazilians living in the USA is estimated to be around 500,000.

Across the country, more and more Brazilians are deciding to make the USA their new home, and moving here doesn’t mean you need to leave your culture behind.

As for the number of Brazilians specifically residing in California, the Brazilian Consulate estimates that roughly 10,000 Brazilians live in the Los Angeles area, with most of them living in and around the Culver City and Palms areas.

Pretty soon, maybe in the next twenty years or so, there will be more Brazilians in the greater Los Angeles area alone than there were in the entire country thirty years ago.

Also, many Brazilian celebrities have moved to the Los Angeles area, as well, including Alessandra Ambrosio, Anderson Silva, Rodrigo Santoro, Claudia Leite, and Camila Coelho.

At Chueire Estates, though, we’re happy to represent all different types of clients with all different types of budgets. It doesn’t matter if you’re a software developer or movie star, we want to help you find the best possible property for your lifestyle. Whether you’re looking to buy a mansion in Beverly Hills  or a small condo, we can assist you in the homebuying process.

For Brazilians, that starts with informing buyers and sellers of some of the key differences between buying property in the USA and Brazil. Many Brazilians don’t fully understand just how differently the market operates in the US.

The USA’s Real Estate Market is NOT the Same as Brazil’s

In Brazil, there isn’t one unifying body that lists every property for sale. You’re restricted to working with the listing agent for the property that catches your eye, or with that agent’s office. There are only a limited number of people involved, and that makes your search for a new home much more labor-intensive. It’s more difficult to find someone who truly represents you, and that puts a lot of the emphasis on you to do all the work.

The USA has a massive database of almost all homes that are listed for sale. This system is called the “multiple listing service” (MLS). Investors, appraisers, realtors, and other real estate experts have access to the MLS, and this means that you have your choice of people and professionals to work with. In the USA, there are more realtors than houses on the market. Every realtor has access to all of this data on the MLS, making it much easier for everyone involved in the transaction.

In short, you choose who represents you during the real estate process.

Another obstacle that’s specific to Brazilians looking to invest in real estate in Los Angeles: the Brazilian real is worth only one-fifth of the US dollar. If you already own property in Los Angeles or Miami, then, we can help sell it. The proceeds are worth five times more in Brazil, opening up the door for possible reinvestment. Home prices in the USA are at all-time highs thanks to low interest rates and economic stimulus packages. Putting that money to work in Brazil could get you much further and net you bigger profits.

Navigating the real estate market in the USA, though, will take both bilingual and real estate experience.

Have Someone on Your Side Who Speaks Portuguese

It’s difficult to navigate the grocery store in a foreign tongue, let alone a complicated real estate market. With all of the jargon associated with the industry, many English native speakers have trouble understanding exactly what’s going on.

Nearly 60% of first-time homebuyers admit that they feel unprepared. It’s the biggest purchase most people will make in their lifetimes, and misunderstanding just a few words on a contract could cost thousands (or even tens of thousands) of dollars.

For foreign-language speakers, it’s even more difficult. If 60% of first-time English-speaking homebuyers feel unprepared, it’s safe to say that number is quite a bit higher for any foreign language speakers.

And, while Spanish is increasingly common in the United States, with over 41 million people speaking Spanish at home, Portuguese is much less common. There are only 1 million Portuguese speakers in the United States. Finding a real estate agent in Los Angeles who speaks Portuguese, then, is a bit difficult.

If your first language is Portuguese and you only have a limited command of the English language, you need someone who can translate for you. Wilson Chueire is a Portuguese-speaking real estate agent that’s up to the task.

For example, when Chueire Estates received a request to list a property at Icon Brickell in Miami, the seller was looking to move quickly. In less than a day, we listed the property, received multiple offers, and secured one 8% above asking price. If that same seller were to use an online iBuyer service for quick results, the losses would’ve been in the hundreds of thousands.

We moved just as quickly -- if not quicker -- with better results.

Brazilian Real Estate Agent in Miami

Furthermore, as we mentioned above, Chueire Estates is licensed to do business in Florida, specializing in Miami Beach. If you aren’t interested in Los Angeles, we could also help you do business there. Miami has the third-largest population of Brazilians in the entire USA, with roughly 43,000 and growing.

Most of the business that Chuiere Estates does in Miami Beach focuses on new developments and resale of condos and single-family homes. Several of our clients have chosen to relocate to Miami Beach, renting or buying in South Florida.

We regularly secure the best possible deals for our clients, always keeping their best interests at heart, and doing our best to work in their time frames, no matter how condensed that might be.
